Construction, ramp width?

HI! I am new to all of this. Building a coop now. How wide should the ramp into the house be? I have some 2X6 lumber but thought 5 1/2" would be too narrow? Help. Thanks!

Thats what I used, a 2X6. Its plenty wide enough, and easy to manuever when i clean the run.

I dont think it matters. I just made mine as wide as my chicken pop door. just make sure you put some dowels on the board so there is something for them to climb up the ramp on.

I don't think the width matters at all. I had a coop that used a 2x4 with a few strips of plywood for cleats. As long as they can have something to grip with their feet they're good. My new coop has a set of stairs thats 16" wide and they are up and down that thing all day going 2 wide.
