Container for DE

Has anyone used an old tire and put DE in it in their run for chickie dust baths? Like we used to have when we were kids, for sandboxes. (did I date myself?)

I hadn't even thought of that but just picked up a bag of DE - now I may just have to try that.... Thanks for the idea.

How often would you have to change out the DE? I'm assuming it'll get all poo-filled...

Could you poop scoop it like kitty litter? I haven't noticed chickens pooping where they like to dust bathe, but then I am way too new to all this, and the chickens are my neighbors, anyway. They have a place in my horse barn in the aisle where they have a little bathing area.
