Dust bath ideas

Purchased this 36" x 24" x 8" container at TSC intending to use it for the chickens dust bath. I filled it with the dust bath mixture (yard dirt + volcanic ash mixture). They haven't gotten in once!

Is it too high? 8" is pretty high and they are only 16 weeks old, However, they jump up on things in their run and to roost/rest but for some reason hopping up to dust bath in this isn't their "thing." Do I get a kiddie pool instead?

I appreciate any advice.

My chickens sometimes take a few days to get used to new things. They just have to figure things out on their own. Once they see a “brave” one go in, others will follow.
