Contech Scarecrow sprinklers, do they work? My garden is in danger.

So, I want my birds to play and keep the weeds under control in the backyard. But, they like the garden. i know I should put a fence up... but has anyone tried this:

It looks like it could work and be a lot less effort than placing fence posts into my freaking rock filled dirt! They promote it for cats and rabbits as well as deer so it would likely catch chickens. Be pretty cool if it worked.

Thanks

My hens run from the hose when I turn it on them, but I would guess they'd get used to the sprinkler over time and it would no longer deter them. My hens go out in the rain, too.

I don't think they would be afraid of getting wet, but they do run like crazy when I hit em with the hose. I figure its the same issue. May be boned on this one.

A thought.... My raised beds are 16" tall. If i clip their wings, can they jump that?

Yes. Yes they can.

Really, the only way to keep a chicken out of your garden is a fence. Give the motion activated thing a try--it might work for a season, at least. Maybe.
