Our final count is 40.
2 of the midget white turkeys hatched
0 of the 6 buff laced polish- shipped from AZ & very poorly packed, 2 clears and 4 quitters with huge saddle air cells.
6 assorted Silkies- shipped from SE Ca- foam packed and 100% fertile. 6 were quitters.
3 Lavender Orpingtons
1 Jubilee Orpington
0 of 2 Chocolate Orpingtons- quitters
2 of our EEs
7 of our OEs
19 other assorted mutts including 4 NNs, 3 EEs, 2 red?, 10 black?- some with black legs, some yellow.
Overall a nice brood. The turkeys have been stressful to watch and brood. 4 never even pipped. The two that hatched were so slow to zip that the membrane started to dry and the shell stuck to one. After 2 hours of zipping, the other finally ripped himself out of the egg and nearly disemboweled himself. After nursing them through, one face-planted in the water dish today (yes it has marbles) and my daughter revived him. We do want to raise turkeys, but I think we'll look for some local poults that are past the brooder stage. They seem to take more time and care than our chickens and my dad can help, since he raised turkeys for several years.
On to the next project- 2 bators already full of various chicken eggs (including a few Cuckoo Bluebar from MPC) and 7 Sebastopol goose eggs. (April HAL!)

The Total Number of Chicks Hatched for the Easter Hatch-a-long was

3,427

Congratulations to flocktastic with the winning guess of 3,371 (only 56 off)
