Ended Contest #5 Broodies and their Babies Contest! - 6th Annual BYC Easter Hatchalong

Yes! It was. He stayed with them all throughout when they were growing up! He was disabled with his legs, he got arthritis and had some nerve damage we believe.. so he didn't like to roost on the perch cause it hurt his feet.. so he was happy to stay in the coop with the chicks all the time under the heat lamp (Which is why photos are red).. never wanted to leave them.

aww that's so sweet but sad that you've lost him. I have a young roo right now that is basically raising some babies. He's about 16 weeks old and suffered frostbite on his feet. He's also rather lame and hobbles around. He's been in worth the babies since they were 3 weeks old and has grown rather attached to them. He even protected them from a hen that had to spend a little time in the brooder with them lol. They're almost 8 weeks old now and just moved outside.
