Yes, definately white earlobes on #19 - so leghorn
Definately not white earlobes on # 28 they are pink. So I would say I will give any red brown layer points on that one.

OK... I can't answer the yellow leg on australorp thing. But I can say that I appear to have 3 very distinct black birds.

I won't tell leg color yet, but some have shiny feathers with the blue green iradescence (sp?)
Some have shiny feathers and smaller heads almost neck to head same size.
Some have a dusky dull feather compared to others.

Any ideas? I am open to suggestions. But will ultimately have to go with McMurrays answers, and my gut.

In case you can't tell tone in this email. Not taking any of this as critisism at all. Love to be learning this. It is a fun way to do it. But ultimately, I want the person who is the right one to win the prize.

So discuss, and I will return soon.

Some have a dusky dull feather compared to others. I have no earthly clue, but my gut says Black Australorps, too???

In the experience I have with my black chickens, almost all of my black chickens have shiny, greenish tints to their feathers, both Black Gersey Giants and Black Australorps, but the greeniest of my Blacks is my Black Sumatra, and I really didn't see any in your pictures that made me think of a Black Sumatra, but I'm not 100% on that.

Does McMurray sell Black Orpingtons????? Could some of your blacks be Black Orpingtons or Black Rocks?

Just looked at their list, and I don't see black orps or rocks on their website.

Unfortunately we only have BA's, so I'm not an expert on telling black breeds apart. Both our Aussies and our Black Sex-Links seem to have the greenish iridescence in their feathers, but of course the BSL's have brown feathers. The Aussies' (now almost eighteen weeks old) bodies sit kind of close to the ground, with thickish necks. (Not sure that's quite the right way to describe it. Their heads sort of sit into their necks. Maybe their necks looks a little short, too?)

Though I don't think they looked like that at eight weeks. Hmm.
