*CONTEST* Who wants to be a Guinea Mother.. MORE WinnersS ANNOUNCED

Ticks, ticks and more ticks. More ticks than my turkeys can eat. Also my turkeys don't make enough racket so I also need the guineas to help make some racket around here and the eggs will fill the empty spots in my incubator.

Ticks!!! I had tick-fever a couple of years ago and seriously thought I was dying! I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I have a houseful of children who are already covered in tick bites. We live in a rural area where they are just horrible. Whether I win these eggs or not, I have got to get some guineas to help protect my children and pets against those horrid insects!

Thank you for your consideration and being such a giving person

Definitely for tick factor!! I have 5 buff and dundotte guineas, plus free ranging chickens, and they can't keep up! I have taken at least 10 ticks off myself so far, and that's not counting the animals! I am amazed that my 4 y/o hasn't gotten any yet!

Plus, I love lavender guineas!! I had 3 last year that disappeared

They were so pretty too! Don't know what happened to them either.

Oh, and you noticed my guinea count is 5?? I have an extra male that would thank you greatly for a girlfriend!

Grasshoppers!! They take over the garden and pasture area during the summer. Guineas abosolutely love eating and chasing them. The area extension agent could not believe how previous ones I have had would seem to eat hundreds of them. Alas, after having my original flock of about 25 for about 10 years, they have finally dwindled to just a few. Have been looking to get some new blood infusedand building them up again.. They nest in the tall pasture and love interacting with the other livestock (especially when fed grain.) Incubator has coturnix quail eggs which will be hatching the end of this week--so set up and ready to go.

Oh, the incubator at my house is full until the 20th.

I think Quail_Antwerp needs them more than me anyway. She is looking at ordering keets because she is already seeing ticks around her place this early in spring. Ohio had over 2000 new cases of Lyme's Disease last year, and her kids are out in the yard and woods every day. She also has 3 new puppies at her place that don't need a tick infestation. She is like me and hates to use chemical treatments for pests, so guineas are a wonderful alternative.

Thanks for what you are doing.

Maybe someday I'll be able to offer free eggs like this. I learned great packing technique from Dipsy Doodle.

ETA: Quail just lost 2 of her turkey hens this week to a predator, so a turkey egg would be appreciated. But I also lost a turkey poult, so maybe she'd hatch it for me.

OOH! OOH! OOH! ME! ME! ME!

I just moved into the middle of nowhere, and yes, ticks are a very big problem. I have been getting my coop ready for the little chickens. Every day I get ticks off me and my boys (Boston Terriers).
I plan on getting some, I just dont know alot about them. I would make a great father for them.
I heard they also make great watchdogs for the chickens as well.
This is a new "farm", if you want to call it that. I am just getting started with everything since moving from the city.

*I had to kill my first copperhead this morning since moving there too.

Thats my plead! Thank you.
