*CONTEST* Who wants to be a Guinea Mother.. MORE WinnersS ANNOUNCED

I've really gotten interested in having fowl through my Mom, who has everything from geese to guineas, but now that I've had my own chickens (and now 2 ducks and 2 geese), I get SO MUCH PLEASURE from having them around. The waterfowl are great for simple entertainment value, but later on when they are old enough, it will be great to have them patroling the pasture.

I agree with others about the ticks -- last year, just with letting my few chickens free-range the yard, I found NO ticks on my dogs or cats. I'm hoping that the super-tick-eating guineas will keep even the wildest part of the yard fairly free of the blood-suckers.

Yes, they are NOT the beauties of the barnyard and yes, they ARE pretty low on intelligence, but the benefits greatly outweigh these "cons".

I've tried several times to win eggs through eBay, but they went for WAY more than I ever expected. I'm not into special birds or show birds, just some really great guineas to add to my menagerie.

Thanks for the opportunity!

I have a baby!! Plus 3 or 4 more pips!! All 6 of the eggs made it to the hatcher...from what I can tell they were all still alive. I was a bit worried about a couple, the air cells were on the side instead of the top?? That's a first for me, and I must have left them sit in a carton for at least 24 hours?? Funny!

The one baby looks kind of like a lavender, but it doesn't really look all that purple? It is still in the bator though, so maybe once it fluffs out more I'll be able to tell better. It is definitely not a pearl, or any type that looks like that. I'll have to go back to the first post to see what the possibilities were. I just love lavender guineas!! Thanks sweetshoplady!!

ETA: Just reread the first post, so I guess it is a lavender, cause it sure ain't white!!

They are doing just fine, growing like weeds! They are in a brooder with some coturnix quail chicks, and they are all getting along!
