Again with another Muscovy sad story. My Muscovy's sometimes community lay. I had three hen lay in one nest. There had to be 60 eggs in that nest. all three hens layed on that nest till about day 30 than they left it to just one hen. I took all the eggs but 20. That poor hen was so exhausted after her hatch out and all the baby's I hatched out. We ended up with about 57 chicks. She did not let anyone help her. She decided they were all hers and was mean as all get out. She ended up dying on me when they were two weeks old.

So I set 44 eggs, 20 were clear, 12 had blood rings, 8 died after pipping and 3 never pipped….

the one that hatched was a turtle!!

OK, not really…just have had the average hatch failures and success.

don't read me, I'm losing my mind............

That's quite okay. You fit right in here with us then. Here, put this pretty white jacket on. It's the club jacket.

I have had the absolutely worst string of luck at random times. One time the fan died....one time the bulb went out day 18 and I didn't know until the eggs were stone cold...another time - random heat spike late in incubation, lost the whole group.

Currently things have been running smooth and quiet...almost too quiet... *looks up for a shoe falling*

Moral of the story, you must take care of yourself or you won't be able to take care of the kids!!!
