Control?

I have just started letting my kids out in the yard..they are six & eight weeks old..All I say is HAAAWWWKKKKK...and they all go running into the coop..I really don't know how they learned it or why they do it. My hubby didn't belive me until he saw it..

We have alot of hawks and right now, I am in the process of covering their area, and making the permanant fence enclosure, so I stand right next to them..So when I see one soaring I would say HAWKkkk and they run..

then I say.."It's ok come on out"..they peek out and come back..

Now, they just immediatly do it..So I figure..Why not get em in the coop that way? Even if I didn't see a hawk..
Is that bad?

And whoever said chickens are dumb has never met a chicken....

I use a treat bucket and say pen up when I need them to pen up. Since their coop is attached to their run I don't worry about putting them in the coop. If the weather is bad they can go in the coop or stand under the tarp in their enclosed run.

Treats if you want them to come into the coop or run before evening sets. There is noooooo training a chicken! haha
