Thinking of installing one but, from what I can find reading info, most seem to be solar triggered or on a timer. I want to be able to open and close mine remotely on my own schedule--I like to check for critters before releasing and keep my birds locked in if we are going to be away for the day. So I prefer to select when I let my birds out and close them at night. Often, in the latter case I'd like to be able to do it even if I'm not home. My wifi is strong enough to reach the coop and I could easily run the door off a KASA compatible outlet. Any suggestions accepted.

BTW, while I could, I'm not considering constructing a door preferring to buy one ready to go.

I've Googled them, looked at offers from various sellers--including Amazon--but can't determine from the specs if they can work with a smart phone.--most, for example cycle don't just open when turned on, close when turned off. I hoped someone would have had experience with this kind of operation.

I think there would have to be an app or program developed for the smartphone, as well as special hardware for the door to be able to "talk" to your phone the way you want

I’ve got an app that will allow me to turn a light on or off from an outlet that connects via WiFi to my phone—I can use it to turn house lights on before we get home if I have Internet access. I need to determine if the mechanism that opens/closes the door is either on= open; off=closed and can be plugged into an outlet Haven’t been able to figure that from specs I’ve seen on any doors. Most use a timer which couldn’t be overridden by on/off switch.
