Hi all

I've got a couple of chickens that will probably start laying soon.

But I've got 10kg worth of pullet grower left over.

I don't plan on getting any more pullets until next Autumn (Australia).

Should I expect my feed to last until then, or does anyone know if I can convert my pullet grower feed to layer feed, either by fortifying it with something (or perhaps thinning it out?)

You can continue to feed it. Supplement with oyster shells in a separate dish when they start to lay. The extra protein in the grower feed will not cause a problem.

Grower is generally higher protein than layer and layer has calcium added for egg shell development. Growing chicks do not need the added calcium.

wonderful, thanks for that.

fyi my grower feed doesn't have a withholding period either (which I think is the other thing people worry about), so that's good.
