Converting resin shed to coop. How to mod it?

How hot is it in the wooden shed you have now when it is 95 degrees out ?
If you are unsure and your Hubby knows ask him.
Or even the garage in that heat (assuming you have no AC in there haha).
The resin shed will be Twice that !

When I had the Tarp Shelterlogic carport (tan plastic fabric type) it was HOT under there during the day and that was with one side completely open. That was in full sun and our temps really get to 90 occasionally.

The darker the shade, the hotter under it. Lighter shades will be a bit less, but not really all that. Light still gets in quiet a bit.

I had the sails for over my Koi pond to block direct sun. Worked enough to keep the Algae down but not really much cooler. I had both Tan and Red covers.

I HATE to discourage you as the Resin is great and easy to put up.
But I think a Wood one would be better with an attic space to help with the heat from the sun.
You have a Hubby to help build it too ! more then I have haha..

Oh and THUMBS UP on the Geothermal !!! I want that some day

I actually use the shed, it has my gardening supplies - like my tiller that I use myself and my hubby does not help with my gardening ventures. Then it also has storage stuff.
My hubby has no interest in my poultry collection. ;) He also does not have the time nor skills to build. Although he is a man, his gifts lie elsewhere (technology). He will help me assemble pre-fabs and the shed if I get it.
We have attempted to build projects in the past and it always turns into a chaotic time. So, I want an easier route for all of us.
I am wondering how the snap lock coop fairs since it is made with the same double walled construction? And, the reviews say it is just fine in all types of weather.

The larger building has heat, but no AC and unless it is shut up it is fine to work in. It also has windows we can open if needed. The regular shed does not have any windows. So, it does tend to get a bit hot in there.

Ok, I understand about the Hubby issues ;)

I think the snap coop is basically the same as the Resin shed, but way small. I looked at those on line but none were big enough.

What about this? Everything is cut for you,, it is wood. You still haev to make windows but you would need that in the resin.
A bit more $$ but then again it is a bit bigger too ;) more chickens.
Might be worth it to go look at it.
Just make sure to paint/caulk well

I don't know how tight Money is for you.
When I buy a farm, I will spend a bit more on a wooden coop knowing that it will not only be more secure but LAST longer.
trust me I am cheap on some things, others not so much.
I spent $4000 on a metal carport at this rental because I was just so tired of the snow ! Best money I spent, it will come with me when I move and be a pain in the ass to do it but worth it.
Shoot, if I have a garage at the farm the car port will be the RUN for the hens ;)

My issue is not money persay, but I do have to budget. As well as soon as you slap the word "coop" to a structure the price difference seems outrageous.
:(

If you have a Home Depot near you, I think they rent out the trucks/vans for like $20 for 75 minutes.
I sold my pick up last Oct. Amazing what i have been able to fit in my hatchback . But when I need to get some 12' roofing panels I will rent the HD truck ;)
