I think I will let taxidermist tan the hide so I can make a nice soft coonskin cap. I haven't tanned anything yet and probably would mess it up. I want the whole tail just like Daniel Boone's cap

Rehabilitation?

What if he throws himself on the mercy of the coop? I have given
this matter the greatest of thought.

As a chicken-owner, you have to do your part to maintain the proper
balance. If we catch the coons, and tie a bell around their neck before
releasing them back to their natural world, our chickens will be able to
hear them coming nect time.

Then your fastest little chicken will be taught to run to your back door and
peck on the doorbell until you come out and save the flock.

This plan should work.

I like the throw rug the girls picked out for the coop. Did they say anything about having the roost covered with a matching rug so their feet would stay warm and comfortable? My girls would like that. I am sure that there are more perps out there that need to be in prison so good luck...you might be going into the hat business!

Yeah,a nice rug or hat is in order for that critter.

But my girls are savages. They like to have the skulls of their enemies boiled and dry-hung on the outside of their coop as a reminder to the next so called predator to back off!

My guess is there are enough of his buddies to do Wall to Wall carpeting in the coop and fur lined roost! then make little coon skined coates for all your girls and still have a hat for you LOL
As for mercy from the Coop?? Hardcore fellons never rehabilitate well and are just a burden on society or chickens in this case! I say public execution!! Make examples of them

I have tanned several squirrel furs using the brain tanning method (I substituted egg yolk for brains) it does take a lot of time though.
