UPDATE: Not much improvement, BUT some of our relatives are thinking about getting chickens and they posted about it on FB and included a picture of a 4-H Raising Chickens book and my mom showed it to me. At least she cared enough to show me!
That's a little improvement, at least.
But she knows how much I love chickens, so was she showing it to me for me, or was she the one interested in it???
It seems more like she would show it to me just because I like chickens so much, but still, like I said, it's improvement.
Oh and yesterday she was outside building something that looked just like a chicken coop, and I really thought it was at first!
I asked her what it was...turns out it's a small shed for our trash bins and stuff.
Haha but it got me really excited. I asked her if it was easy to build, and she said yes, and I explained to her that it looked just like a chicken coop, except for you could add windows and nest boxes and stuff for a coop. I told her that it was that easy to make a chicken coop, too.
She also seems to like my single house-chick, Ivory, who lives in a brooder box in my room for now. She won't hold her or even touch her, but she will watch her from a distance and seems to find her antics kinda interesting. She also seems to observe how much I care for Ivory and she seems to see how much I love her, and maybe she will understand that you can love a chicken as much as you can love a dog, cat, or any other animal? Also, maybe if she spends more time with her, she will realize how much she enjoys her and will consider getting a small flock of chickens?
I also told her tonight that I think everyone should have their own backyard flock of chickens, so it would eliminate the battery hen problems.
Slow progress, but the more I talk about chickens and try to connect with her (and by also using Ivory), maybe she will see that owning chickens isn't a bad idea after all.
