Maybe you can get your dog fix by volunteering at a shelter or as a dog walker. Bet there are a lot of parents out there who were promised by misty-eyed children that, "of course I will take it out for a walk every day, clean up after it, etc" until the novelty wears off and guess who takes responsibility. Children also have a habit of growing up and moving away somewhere where dogs aren't allowed.So, as far as responsibility on something like that, I've already proved myself! Now the hard part. I need to find the right dog to try to convince my parents with.
That's exactly what my Mom is afraid of, that's why I actually have the proof from being the top to the only care taker of my chickens. Trust me. I was guilty myself. My children grew up with cats and dogs that were members of the family before they were. Their animal responsibility was learned on a smaller scale with pet rats, guinea pigs, and even a chinchilla.
My ex is an engineer. They don't tend to do thing on a small scale.
As far as volunteering, my Mom has suggested that, but then Covid hit and (being special needs) I have a hard time wearing a mask. As far as walking other people's dogs- I don't really live in a safe neighborhood, so my parents wouldn't ever approve of me walking their dogs. 
There is talk of maybe fostering in the future, so I'm really hoping that that could be a possibility someday soon.

) so i'll be making a water proof hutch thing with a roof (not sure what they're called) and i'll use straw to insulate it. Btw yes, it's in feet sorry i didn't make that clear lol, and it's the entire coop, so part of it will be the sheltered hutch or whatever you call it, and there will only be 3 or 4 chickens
I think you should look at the community page of member chicken coop. Give you an better idea what a proper coop should be for your chickens. Especially in your area. I would offer an enclosed structure for them to roost and nest. And have a run space for them to walk around when not supervised.ohhh i didn't know that's how you did it.
