Cook after harvest

Hello,

I searched for answer but I could not find anything that really answered by question. I harvested a five month old rooster today and would like to use it for soup tomorrow. Would it be better to not use this one and take one out the freezer? If I can use it would it be better to boil, crockpot or roast or would it not matter bc it will be soup?

I have always found that a 48hr rest is best. Sometimes a bird is fine after only 24 hours, check to see if it is still stiff, if it is, I would cook a different one.
