Cookie Tin water heater

I wonder if a coffee mug/candle warmer type thing would work? They are designed to be left on but I wonder if they will generate enough heat?

I wouldn't submerse them in the water. My mom always told me that electricity and water do not mix well.

Just built mine after temps dropped to below 20deg. here in VT last night. Took about $5 and 10 minutes. I used some rubber fender washers at the nuts to keep moisture out and dabbed some caulk in to make sure no water can chase down the wire to the inside. I'm running a 60w chandelier bulb. Now I just need to find a temp monitor so I don't have to remember to plug/unplug it!!

FYI - I use a 40 watt chandelier bulb in ours - less energy is less money. We use a durex bowl the same diameter as the heater and no frozen water in 3 years with many -20 nights.

I used my last night in my pen of new seramas. I have a very low watt bulb in there. The seramas wasted no time in perching on top to warm their feet.
