Cooking while sinusey infected

I've been steadily fighting a sinus infection for a couple of weeks. It's winning. I didn't feel bad enough this morning to tell my BF, "Screw it! You cook!" So, I'm cooking. I can't smell anything!!!! The few things I can smell, smell really weird and industrial (I know that didn't make sense, but it's all I got). I love to cook, and I'm not half bad at it, but without my sense of smell, I can't even tell where things are in the cooking process.

Have you tried using a Neti Pot? I swear by these, whenever allergies kick up or during cold and flu season or any other time I feel cogested.

Inexpensive plastic ones can be purchased at any Walmart and they come with the solution mix.
