Cool new feeder idea...

I found these hamster litter boxes and thought they would make great feeders for my brooders. They work great. I fill them to the top then put the grate in. They can pick the food out but not dig and dump it all over. We were going through so much feed it was ridiculous! I found these at PetSmart for about $8.00.

I seen them the other day in pets mart and looked at them for so long and doubted it would work but sure enough you proof it does so pets mart in the morning it is

You're gonna love it! They do poop in it of course, but I just brush it off before filling. It stays surprisingly clean.

Oh Yeah! I love it. I go through so much starter it isn't funny. They are so wasteful. I don't know why they think they have to get in and dig. They dust themselves in it too. Little buggers. I bet cutting a piece of small wire will work over a tray. I don't know the size of it but at Rural King it's labeled as Hardware Cloth. Looks like wire to me with very small squares. Chicks could get their beaks in to get food. We use it in the bottom of cages for chicks. I bet the bigger wire will work for the adults.

I know what I'll be doing tomorrow. Thanks for the great idea.

That is a pretty crafty idea! I was wondering about them pooping in it but I guess chicks are going to do that regardless of what you use anyway...
