Cooler jug for sprouting

I love this website! Heard about sprouting grain here, saw some inexpensive awesome ideas ( shout out to the one who posted using dollar store dishpans!) I had water cooler jugs that are not refillable on hand, this is my first try. To stop the grain from going down I just shoved a paper towel in the center.
I think if I could lift the layer up a little higher I would get more, Any ideas how I could do that?

I haven't sprouted seeds for my chickens before so I'm no help. Hopefully someone who has can help out. That looks like a good set up.

Thanks! It worked out, the chicks loved it. There was a bit of waste, So now I put a paper plate in before the seeds - seems better
