Cooling and Heating a non-electric coop & ? about insulation

I am in the process of insulating my coop now. I have used a few different kinds. In my nesting boxes where I used smaller lumber to construct it, I am using the foam board - lower r-value but will give them the protection they need and cut down on any drafts. In the rest of the coop, I am using regular old batting (I believe it is 6"). I will cover it with either some thin plywood or I may use some tile board depending on how I feel!
With ventilation, I have two big vents on each end of the coop as well as openings around both sides (between the roof and top of the walls). In the summer, I will have those openings covered with wire to prevent any little critters from joining the party. In the winter I will block most of them, BUT not all, so the drafts are cut down but the air still flows in and out of the coop.
I am also in the process of running electric out to the coop so If I have to I can add some heat if the weather turns very cold!
Hope that helps.
