coon for 4 last night

A Golden Feather member must be very experienced. Can you share some wisdom with us peeps?

For my case, I am very serious about racoon barriers. I live across the street from a woods and have a large garden with a CSA. I trap at least a half dozen racoons just during the two or three week period when the sweet corn is ready. I give them names starting with "Rocky" and progressing to "Rocky II", "Rocky III" etc. and usually get up to at least "Rocky VI". I spray paint them with orange landscape paint before releasing them several miles away so if they come back I will know I haven't gone far enough.

They have gotten through electric tape fencing with no problem.

For my chickens, I have a very serious pen which is enclosed top and sides with heavy gauge 1" by 2" fencing on wood posts. I also have a "guard goose" on the inside and make sure the chickens are tucked in every night inside a wire and wood coop. I let them out first thing in the morning and lock them down after sunset every night. Next year I will be getting a dog to house inside with the birds. This is a war, and you have to win if you want to keep chickens.

If you can't release them in the morning maybe you can rig a timer that will release the door at a certain time every day. Letting them go in the coop and not locking it down does absolutely nothing.

Congrats on dispatching coons. They seem to breed like rabbits.
