When I unlocked the silkies out from the duck pen this morning they were gone. I looked all around and I see no dig marks or anything. All I saw was this...

That is a coon mark for sure. What they do is grab the chicken through the fence and bite the head of then finish the rest after it is dead.
Unless you don't have a top then it could be a hawk or eagle that cornered and ate it right there

the chicken coop is on top it, its completely sealed off
Probably a coon then. Electric fencing that sticks out 6 inches from the cage and 6 inches from the ground would fix that problem. Or you could try and catch the coon.

This is the reason I am using hardware cloth with small openings. Anything an inch or larger can open things up for predators.

I'm sorry. I forgot to give condolences for the loss. Didn't mean for my post to sound calloused.
Something killed all my chickens last night but they aren't missing their heads, just looks like broken necks. Any ideas?

Its ok it was our fault ... I figured the wire we were using was too big. I guess nothing is living there until we fix that issue.

Are they missing anything at all? If it didnt eat them maybe a dog?
