Coon Proof Latch?

Will this latch keep a coon out? Want to find out now while I can still return it and before a coon actually gets in!

YES IT WILL. They are dexterous, but not smart enough to know LEFTY LOOSEY, AND RIGHTY TIGHTY....... I posted that locking carabiner/chain link a while back on a similar thread.

Does it have to be a locking we just have a carabiner on ours

I use these, if the threads start to rust on yours, it may get hard to turn.

I use the carabiner type as well. Have had success with them. Also use a nut and bolt set up on ordinary gate latch which works.

Most likely you are still safe. A locking is TOTALLY safe. They are cheap as well at about $1 each.

Don't worry about them rusting shut. If you use daily , such wont happen. If left for about a year..... You may need to use a wrench.
