Do it like a Border Collie. Train with a whistle if young enough so that the dog only “herds” on command. I know easier said than done. I have two Border Collies. They will approach our neighbors chickens but do not become aggressive with them. Supposedly, the predator in them has been bred out so while they will assume the stance of a predator (wolf) and stalk (almost any animal that moves, concluding other Borer Collies), they will typically not attack and kill.I have been trying to train mine to herd the ducks in. But... my problem is now he tries to practice at it when i dont want him to.
And... thats kind of counterproductive to my teaching him to ignore them. So i may have to stop.
