Coons -- big discussion in the family

I like the headress idea, or what about an entire coon costume for the chickens, confuse the coons!!!!!

I trap and dump the carcass out back in my field for the vultures to eat. In Michigan it is illegal to transport a live wild animal. You can shoot them anytime they are "doing or about to do damage".

I have thought about skinning them, but they stink and since it is pretty much pointless anyway I don't skin them. Although it does occur to me now that maybe my son could use a lesson in skinning. Might be a good way to practice.

If I were trapping coons, it would be too tempting to hack of the tails and keep a tail-tally hanging along the coop.

I've only read the first page so far, BUT, in many states it is illegal to trap and relocate raccoons. You are required by law to kill what you trap.

Being a fur bearing animal, raccoons may be protected from trapping for their fur, maning that selling it or even using it personally may bring big fines for poaching--even if that was not your original intent. By selling the pelt, you have made the fur an intent. In some states you may be required to get a predation permit for fur bearing animals.

Bottom line, check your own state's laws, and call you Game and Fish Department with questions so that you will get legal information pertinent to YOUR location.

4. You skin em, dress em out, and fire up the BBQ. The only thing better then BBQed Coon is BBQed possum. (Sweet potatoes on the side)

Coon is a fine meal.

YouTube is gushing with rednecks dying to tell you just HOW TO DIY A COON.

It is fascinating and hilarious. And you might just learn something useful.

I think I went to prom with a couple of them fellas....

Seriously. They ARE BETTER eating if you can CATCH THEM, feed them on grits and gravy for about ten days to clean their systems, and THEN whack 'em.

Mmmmmmmmmm!

most browesrs/vegans rabbits woodchucks deer etc are quiet good table fare the scavengers like possums coons coyotes fox etc are not fit to eat I don't care how long you feed them, bobcat is good though but very lean it needs fat or grease to keep it from drying out too much

I have seen Coon Skin Hats, Coon Skin Coats, but never ever, ever, ever have I seen a Coon Skin Belt.

More than likely its illegal to trap and release, most States it is, On the rabies you can not tell by lookiig at a animal, if it carring rabies, until the last few days. Reason they had to past laws to keep people from relocating them.
