Coop 99% done!

Congrats on their first night!
My intention was to put ours out this weekend, but that storm hit us, too...and turned the run area into a quagmire. I spent the weekend building roof extensions and creating mini dams.

I'm glad the drawbridge worked as intended! I am guessing none of your little ones have issues using it?

It's been about a week since the birdies have been in the new coop. We had to go and put them to bed for the first 4 nights. But friday night they went to bed on their own! I was able to use the drawbridge and lock them in without going into the the coop! Of course I went in anyways to tell them all good night. Hee Hee. Had a massive thunderstorm this weekend, but the coop stayed nice and dry. That extra time spent with the caulking gun was well worth it. In a week or so we have 3 new birds to go out and meet the rest of the group.

Thanks everyone! I've come to realize that the coop will always be 99% finished. I will always be wanting to tweak here, expand there, or make something easier for me and the birds. I already wish I had made it bigger for more birds. The next project may be a tractor of some sort so I can add a few more. Hee Hee. Also thinking of putting a smaller coop and run attached to the far side of the coop (opposite of the egg boxes) and putting jaws in there with a lady friend or 2 and give hatching a shot. Soo Many options. All it takes is time, money and obsession... I've got the obsession part.

Soon I will add up the purchases and figure out how much this whole madness has cost me.

Thank everyone soo much for being with me thru this project, giving advice and making me feel like I was doing well.

*sigh* Sorry about the goof of it being their first night. Would you believe I hadn't had coffee yet?

It is still good news about the use of the drawbridge! I'd have done the same thing, though.....make sure they are all tucked in and everything.

That really is a very gorgeous coop, and I know that if you keep expanding like you plan, everything will look wonderful. Be sure to document everything with photos and share with us!

Got the front of the coop landscaped this weekend! It's really starting to come together. It is the envy of the neighborhood. Everyone comes over to sit and watch the ladies. LOL.
