Coop at the end of our house? Still needing feedback.

Well, We have 17 chicks. I want to have a small egg business. Not like a huge one, but a way to make some fo the farm tax deductible and qualify for some cheaper taxes.
I am really enjoying them, as are my three kids. So not sure what a reasonable number is.

If I may, let me give a tiny bit of advice here. It is no great leap to care for 30 chickens, or even 50, when you are already messing around with 15. Do it right and employ all the labor saving methods you can and it all boils down to the same. In fact, there should be nothing you do on the farm that doesnt use the best labor saving methods you or others can think of.

Many people, even out in the country, will gladly pay $3-4/dozen for farm fresh eggs.
So, the more chickens you can manage, the more money you can make in both eating and hatching eggs. Did I say hatching eggs? Yep! Do a good job of rearing one pure breed exceedingly well and people will come to you to buy them.
I know you are just starting out, but keep these things in mind. Time to be a farmer.
