So I'm a teacher here in Tucson, AZ. I teach at a very small middle school downtown. Twice a school year we take a week out of our regular schedule to design a week of educational, interactive, community based learning. Our week long theme was "Do it yourself, do it green" (DIY-DIG). Our first group project with twelve of the students was to build a chicken coop at my house (we checked, it's technically NOT child labor
) using only materials I already had laying around. Here's what we did without spending a penny. *NOTE I did have a good amount of materials from previous projects and whatnot, so I guess I can't honestly say we did it all for free, but we didn't buy anything new!
There were some great pics of the build that I couldn't include since they had the kiddos in there. It's been 6 days with the girls (3 Rhode Island Reds, our first ever!) and so far it's been great!
