Coop building next week

1/2" hardware cloth. Plans call for chicken wire but that is a no go here

The eventual plan is to get electric chicken netting or sheep netting to put a few feet out from the coop ( s)

that is a good idea the more protection the better, though I'm not saying you have to do everything anyone tells you but if you have any bears in the area I would used cattle panels cut to size and then covered with the hardware cloth, and yeah the only thing chicken wire is meant to do is keep the chickens in and nothing out.

yikes yep I would be using cattle panels, your choice but the hardware cloth works.

Look for a moving and shipping company near you. One near me allows folks to take pallets which are damaged or shipping crates. I can take as much or as little as I need. Had to pull a lot of staples and nails, but free particle board and 2x4s up to 10 feet made it worth it. Many of the nails were also reused in coop construction. Just gow I got a lot of free lumber stuff

I think that they also have free stuff on Craiglist. You can set up a search and forget it.
