That's an easy one!

For the coop (indoor portion): 3-4 sq. feet per chicken is ideal, 2 is minimum.
For the run (outdoor space): 4-5 sq. feet per chicken is recommended.
Roosting space: about 1 linear foot per bird
Nesting Boxes: One nesting box for every 2-4 hens

What Are the proper sizes for a nest box?

I haven't read through this entire thread, but I was wondering if anyone has already suggested setting up a wiki for this thing? That would make it easily edited and more easily navigated. I, too, would love to see all of this information in one place, with a certain level of group input (as opposed to a book that just reflects one or a few points of view that may or may not deal with my particular climate, etc.).

A lot of good stuff here, but, like others I was hoping to see a finished list, filled out.

I am building one shed now, and two more in the spring, sections with outdoor runs for small groups of hens/roos (20 + 4).

Using some ideas from here. Thanks.

I will never forgive my junior and high schools for only allowing me to take sewing and cooking classes.

What so hard and mysterious about cooking and sewing.

LadyHawke, I just had to reply when I saw this post. I'm of an age when guys took shop and girls took Home Ec. and there was no choice in the matter. I so agree with you and remain jealous of high school girls today when they get to choose...

I'm only posting to ask River Lizard if that is a channel catfish and what river did you land that? It's a nice fish even though not a trout. I'm one of those northern trout snobs but in off season will gladly tackle northern pike, heck, anything with fight, just for the fun of it.

Bump this again (sorry for the zombie) in hopes for a Wiki page.

Wiki would take the stress off of a 'single editor' and allow discussion to occur behind-the-scenes for interested parties.

Hoping to begin construction, and really enjoyed the education I've gotten so far from the flegling thread.
