Coop cleaning

I go in with a dust pan once a week and scoop out the areas they "hang out" and then spot scoop what I see. Then I mix everything left in there together kind of and add about as much as I took out. We have a fairly large coop.

Chickens are only 5.5 weeks so not roosting yet, I'm sure once they are roosting the poop boards will help keep coop floor cleaner

I dont think you can separate poop from the shavings. We use a poop board with sweet pdz on it and scoop it like you would cat litter every morning.
This and if I see an obvious new poop in the shavings, I'll flip it into the poop bucket. I fluff the shavings with this funny looking plastic pitchfork every so often, adding more shavings if needed. And if it looks like it needs to be done, I sweep all the shavings into the run and put down new shavings. Haven't had to do that since all the birds started using the roosts at night so most of the poop hits the PDZ on hte poop boards.

Unless you're using sand as your bedding or a poop board, I don't think theres much option for removing -just- the poop like you can with larger animals... if there is, I haven't found it yet! Ive been meaning to get around to switching out to poop boards myself for just that reason, but around-to-its are in short supply these days! ;)

I don't even try.

I used deep bedding in the coop but changed it all out when the poop-to-shaving ratio got too high or when the pile of shavings got up to the doorsill. It makes splendid compost (with a bit of lime to balance the pH).

I would throw a little scratch into the bedding a couple times a week so that chickens would keep it stirred up and use the manure fork to break up crusts if I saw any. But I am far to lazy to even think of trying to scoop poop. ;) :D 🤣
