Coop Closing Alarm Suggestion?

Less than an hour ago a raccoon pulled one of our chickens from the coop because we forgot to close it this evening. We almost never forget, but once is too many times. We got very lucky and it appears our injured chicken may live -- the raccoon dropped her when we ran outside.

My husband tried setting an alarm 3 years ago when we first got our chickens, but tired of changing the time on it to correspond with dusk. Is there any such thing as an alarm clock (or computer, or smart phone app) that knows when sunset is so we can just set an alarm to go off before it?

try seeing if a photo cell that turns lights on at dusk will or can be made to work. good luck and tell us how well it worked.

In the Android play store I searched for sunset alarm. Under apps the third result (for me) looked promising. No personal experience, but just browse the app store or play store, whichever phone you use, there are apps available.
