Coop Contest 2010 - Win $20 BYC Store Gift Cert. Ended 9/12/2010

Hey All!

I got this idea off the web site too!

I live in the small college city of Athens. I knew I could not have a Rooster, and I live alone.

This is the right size to have four hens. It is 6' by 8', and has a walk up and 4 nest boxes in side. I added several places for them to get out of the rain. The back side opens up to clean nest boxes and collect the eggs. I like the idea of the fresh eggs, and also as a gardener, I can use the litter and chicken droppings for fertilizer.

I also have an aviary, of Lady Gouldian Finches and Stafford Canariaes. It is below:

Happy Memorial Day, Everyone!

Very very nice.

Could you tell me if the landscape timber you used are 4x4 (not 4x6)? Are these the $2 when on sale?

I am doing something similar and if I could use the landscape timber rather than 4x4, there is a cost difference.

TIA.

loubapache,

The timbers are actually 4 x 6, with the 4" side flat and the 6" side rounded. The reason I used them was that they were $1.97 at home depot. I hate shopping there, but for that price I couldn't pass it up. Hope this helps! The actual name for them is "Cherry Tones"

Here is my coop, just finished throwing together my page.
