Where I live, code allows electric to be run underground 24", which is doable with a rented trencher. We just did it; rented the trencher, had a licensed electrician run the proper cable, and attach it at the workshop and the coop. Cheaper and easier in the long run, rather than dealing with batteries and solar, at least here in cloudy Michigan. At least find out what would work where you live before buying all that stuff!
