How long would you recommend making the overhang?

For open soffit venting.
Would also recommend fly rafters to shelter the vents on the end of coop.
....and make coop taller so you can walk in.

it was 12"! I forgot to add that to my measurements post, my bad. I'll try to figure out how to add fly rafters - if you can't tell, I have never done anything like this in my life. My mom is the one with the practical building knowledge, I'm just the model maker.

Over hang should go all the way around.
Looks like you're picking up the modeling very well.

Thank you! Is this sort of what you mean? I'm not sure if I needed the supports in the front, but I added them just in case.



ETA, per the Mother: are fly rafters necessary with a metal roof?

You will almost certainly want a second roost bar. Not only is 12" per chicken usually recommended, but having a second roost allows subordinate flock members to stay respectfully out of the dominant birds' way.

You'd have a fascia on the rafter ends.
ALL rafter ends extended..... with fascia.

Better for snow load....but maybe purlins extended would work OK.

Yeppers.
Tho fascia is usually 1x material.
Now do the same with the other side, after you extend the rafters there.

That side is the barn wall that it’s being built off of, so no overhang there. Thank you so much for all of your help! I really appreciate it.
