Coop design... I finally decided!

If you were standing in Bob's driveway looking towards the fields, then the woods, Blueberry Lake is in that general direction. You can either walk to it (very rough trekking) or go up the river from the Elliott Road at the 'car wash' above the bridge on the Rawdon side, and go in by canoe. We have done it a few times by canoe, a very nice trip- you can see otter slides on the river, sign of bear, huge amounts of other wildlife. It's the pine marten protection zone. Their original houses were built of wood in trees during the release and the martens have since moved down river and out for several miles. Bob, I think, has someone on the property at all times to watch out for predation and to do the chores. I guess what I'm saying is that there is never too much predator protection in our area, especially if you have to be off the property during the day. With the time change in the fall, it will be dark before you get home and a pack of coyotes or some migrating raptors could wipe out your livestock if they are not protected. That said, I think you will solve this before you ever get the stock and have a wonderful place for the animals and yourselves...

yes it will be solved... most of the field critters will be in the freezer by this time next year but I have a seperate garage that I will be wiring this weekend and will include an outdoor light which will go on with movement and when the dogs go out to play at night. I believe Simon plans on running a zap line around the top of the fences as well. We haven't had a racoon around since the first week we moved in and encountered the dogs on the deck... I think the racoon told his friends and family the we had wild beasts and bugger off.

I have been down to blueberry lake I just didn't know its name, Bob gave us permission to use his lane way to go down there...

This weekend I am building the walls and roof on the chicken coop, I will be running power to it as well... boy this think is going to cost a lot!

It's worth every penny, though, and you already have a good deal on the windows. Having it comfortable for the stock and especially for you will make a huge difference. Just keeping chickens dry is golden! Setting up from scratch is a lot of work and the $$$ add up, but you get it back, in time.

It's encouraging that someone, somewhere can decide. I've been putting together chicken digs for over a year now. Still to this day I can't get my Alpha Rooster to meet me at the door wearing a smoking jacket while puffing on a pipe.

My whole concept was contrived by the three little pigs.

I don't own any (yet) but boy I can imagine it getting pricey! Did you know you could find a book you want, then do a WorldCat search for it? Then you can ask your library to get it through inter-library loan to try it out before you spend money on it. I wonder if you can get used copies from AbeBooks or Barnes and Noble's used book section?
