Coop door open?

[Standard Hen]

I leave both the pen and coop doors open when they free range,,plus their grain is in there so they are in and out all day. Always sooooo busy those chickens.

Besides, if the doors are left open, they can run into shelter when they spy a varmint!

Actually, I once made the mistake of closing the coop door when they were freeranging -- and then the sun went down and I expected them to put themselves to bed. When I went out to lock up, they were roosting ON TOP of the hen house, and under the house, and in my woodpile, etc... I had to wander around looking for chickens in the dark, because none of my flashlights had batteries... ugh.
