Coop finally finished !!!!!!!

Cheep a'lil Talk a'lil :

Thank you so much for the yard pictures. What a wonderful area!!
I'm sure you will be tossing grapes at your husband...er...I mean chickens in no time!

You're welcome and thank you for the compliment. I was so nervous when I started this whole thing, that I would do it wrong.
I read this board constantly for tips, so this coop would not exist without the wisdom found in this forum. Means a lot to hear kudos !!

Really hot yesterday, and realized the chicks needed way more shade. I am adding trellis panels to part of the front wall.
Tried the frozen cooler packs in a box trick, and heavily wetted the yard last night and this morning. And leaned a few pieces of plywood against the walls, to create shade tunnels. And I planted a grape vine on the outside of the run.
They seem much happier today.

Frozen cooler packs for chicks and peeled grapes for hubby. Where are all the women like you.

Beautiful, beautiful job! I notice you have your grape vines in pots? Are you planning to transplant them or do they do well as potted plants? (a grape arbor is on my wish list!)
Will you let your chickens free range in those areas as well, or keep them penned?
So many great ideas in your photos!

Hi Gotpoodle-

The grape vines just haven't been planted yet. The grape arbor is just made with rebar and 4" fencing, super simple.
It will be attached to the planter boxes for support.

I am hoping to let my chickens free range. But I am worried about them flying away, so I need to look at that and how to deal with it. I don't have any interest in going door to door looking for my chickens. LOL
