So sorry for your losses! How badly were her feet burned? I would not put any cream on them, but would wrap them loosely with gauze for now. Do you have a vet that would see her?

Thank you. What are the signs for smoke inhalation and what do I do if they have it? The fire was bad, the side of our house is melted, so they probably do have it

I hadn't thought about silvadine. Good call, Mary. My answer was based on what I was taught as an EMT - cover burns loosely with guaze because putting cream on a burn can hold the burn in, so to speak, and keep burning. But that's also for initial response. How badly are her feet burned? Red, like a sunburn? Blistered? Charred skin? I would put silvadine on red or blistered skin, but personally would not on a charred burn.

Another thing to watch is their breathing. If they were exposed to the heat, or ashes, they could have compromised, swollen airways. I don't know if that's a thing that would show up immediately or not. Our family was in a house fire about 16 years ago. We all made it out, but I did suffer from smoke inhalation. Used an inhaler and coughed up nasty grey crud for about 3 weeks.

I would watch and listen for wheezing and difficulty breathing. I don't know that you can do much for them, though.

I myself don't know about smoke, but one of my hens once was choking on grass, and passed out. I removed the obstruction, and actually gave her mouth to beak air, and she survived. There is hope! Have faith Christi!

Yes as bobbi said above, inflamed airway, raspy breathing, coughing (with or without gunk coming out). It can take a few hours or days to show unfortunately not much to be done for birds I don’t think. Best thing to do is keep them hydrated. Luck!
