Coop Floor, Help!

I would put down galvanized wire underneath, and cover with at least 3/4 foot inch of dirt and pine shavings on top. If you are worried about the dogs and don't mind splurging a bit, look at omlet. I placed cayenne around the coop/run and I think that helped keep the dog off as I havent seen her in a while. I'm cautious of electric fence simply because of my 4yr old who likes to touch everything, and help get eggs ect. I appreciate that suggestion though!

I'm in south texas and my yard basically becomes a pond when it rains. Not sure if I could do something for drainage that would actually help but definitely open to ideas
We know we need to haul lots of dirt in to raise everything but financially just not feasible right now. I have a pic of the inside, everything is out right now because I'm mid spring cleaning it!

Our first house was a swampy 1/4 acre less than 2 blocks from a river with a little feeder stream as the back property line. The backyard grew lots of grass but when you stepped in it you left water filled footprints. The first thing we did was dig a little fish pond in the lowest spot. Then we brought in gravel. Just bucket loads found for free. We tamped the gravel down into the grass in our high traffic areas. Squished it into the mud in the hopes of using a lawn mower some day. Then I started dumping the cat's litter box wherever I wanted a little garden bed and topped it with as much yard debris as we could collect. Leaves, twigs, hedge trimmings, garden weeds. More gravel between the beds. I drove around with a 5 gallon bucket and a handleless shovel in my trunk for years and kept an eye out for gravel and small rocks. 5 years later you could spread a blanket on the lawn and have a picnic. The sooner you start, the sooner you improve your situation. I'd first make a firm dry path from house to coop. Then work outward to more destination points.

This is so interesting (& creative)! One question: I always thought feline waste (possibly just their urine?) was bad for garden beds, or for encouraging green growth in general?
