Coop Floor vs Nesting boxes

OK , we got our first egg today but she layed it in a corner on the coop floor instead of the nesting boxes. Should I go get one of those dummy eggs and put one in each of the 8 boxes or just hope they figure it out themselves.The farm I go them from they were laying n the boxes, but they had straw in their boxes, where I have shavings in mine and straw on the floor. Could this be the reason?

New layers can often get surprised by the egg and drop it in strange places. Usually within a week or so, they figure it out and make it to the boxes. All it will take is one girl laying there and the rest will follow.

If you have some spare golf balls, those work in the nests too. Or plastic easter eggs filled with rocks and glued shut.
