Coop flooring-What kind is in yours?

I have an 8'x6' coop with a 8'x10' enclosed run on cement. I plan on thick layer of pine shavings in the coop and sand in the run. The plans also include free ranging but I kinda like the portable chicken tractor idea to keep my peeps safer from the hawks, and couple bald eagles that have recently visited.

I have plywood with a very expensive high qaulity deck paint. Cleans good. I know it won't last but by the time it rots, I'll be ready for a bigger coop

We have the self stick tiles. We used them because we had them left over from the previous owner of the house. A couple of them have peeled and when I change the bedding I am forever getting my shovel/scoop stuck under them. Hate them.

Yeah, I think I am going to find that piece of linoleum, that is sounding much better than stick down tiles.

Thanks for your comments.

And Carladababe, I wish I could do the cement run, but I am going to be lucky just to have the money to put a coop together and have a run with grass growing in it.

Oh definitely.... find that piece of sheet vinyl.

I used it on my floors and LOVE it....it is tough and very easy to clean. However I used the self stick tile on the lower walls as a kind of kickboard. I think I have maybe three pieces left still stuck on the wall....almost all of it has fallen off.....bad idea on my part. Sheet vinyl is the way to go. Good luck with your build.

My 7'x10' shed has a wooden floor. I have covered that with a heavy plastic that is secured down along the outer edges. I use pine shavings that can easily be swept out because of the plastic. I have had the plastic down for 8 months and have had no problems with it. Relatively cheep in the paiunt department at The Depot. The plastic can also be taken up with the shavings and taken into the yard to dump all the shaving at once.

I tried the self stick in my 4ft x 3ft brooder I have in the garage. Was gonna use this for temporary holding of my 2 new chicks until
my coop new coop addition is done and add them to the other 3. I even primed the osb board first. They fell out as I was working on the brooder.
It was 45 outside. Got the tiles for 28 cents thought I had a deal lol. I went to HOBO and got a pergo type panels. They where 13"x52" with the locking
joints. Only needed 3 pieces. It was about 12 bucks and looks like marble tiles. This looks like it will work good in the brooder but never
heard of anyone using this in the coop. Self stick tiles are terrible for outside and I think it is because of the cold. The cold breaks the bond.

I have the tiles in a back room on our house that will one day be transferred into my laundry room (no more going down into the dungeon)

and it is VERY cold in the winter back there and VERY hot in the summer, we have the whole room done in the tiles and only 4 have come up a bit and that is in front of the door. We have had them down for about 4 years now and that is why I thought they may work in a coop.
