I am in the process of redoing my chicken coop and looking for advice for what is the best to have in the outdoor run. Our weather conditions defiantly vary as we’ll get snow, rain and hot summers. Wondering what everyone would recommend. Thinking between sand, pea gravel or mulch. Anybody have any advice?

There isn't one "best" solution. What's your specific climate like ? Is the run going to be covered or uncovered? How is the drainage in your soil and what type of soil do you have? What materials are most commonly available in your area?

Great questions!

My runs have semi-deep litter(cold composting), never clean anything out, just add smaller dry materials on occasion, add larger wood chippings as needed.
Aged ramial wood chippings are best IMO.

Here's how to add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, (laptop version shown), then it's always there!
