Coop From TSC

Oh great idea!!! I didn’t think of that! I will try to move it down! The coop is raised above the enclosed run.
Here’s the link to the coop we have ☺️

Ah - perfect! I have the same one. I'll go snap some pics this afternoon of some various low roosts I've had in that. Also the roost that comes with that is very pointy on the edges if I recall; that can be off-putting to the birds.

Obligatory warning with that coop since it certainly wasn't in reviews I saw when I got mine: if you are in a wet area or get a lot of snow that will sit on the roof and melt, it will almost certainly need replacing or some kind of repair in a couple years time. I've since seen several people complain of the exact same thing and it finally happened to mine this year. Mine has gone through two snow-heavy upstate NY winters, but water has been getting in the metal rails at the side the whole time and is slowly rotting the plywood, so my husband is going to try to replace those panels this year.

Thank you so so much!!! I appreciate you!
We live in Michigan so we get snow but it’s been pretty mild the past couple winters.
We did raise it off of the ground using pallets/OSB board and a tarp!

It’s nice and I think moving the bar could help (sounds like you’re getting incoming suggestions for that) also add ventilation depending on your location. Those are the 2 main mods I had to do.
I actually leave the coop door open to the enclosed run at night. We don’t have a problem with predators because we live right in town luckily!

I like that one! It is crazy how they try and fool people who don’t know how much room chickens actually need (ME).
Me too! It wouldn’t even fit 10 bantams, the lady at TSC actually told me to divide any of the coop numbers in half to get the actual number of birds that will fit.

I do the same but I still added vents up top. Really helps as heat and moisture rises. I have this one. 14 birds it says. lol 😂 holds 6 but I also open their run all day to a big yard.

That’s a nice one! We are working on fencing an area of our yard in so they can be out more! Right now they get out 2-3 times a day under supervision because I cannot leave them in that tiny run all day.
