Coop Heater

At one time I see online where a ceramic build fixture was attached inside a paint can with a hole for the wiring then holes drilled all around the can. Holes in the lid also. That would keep it I closed, heat would escape the holes and you could use whatever bulb you wanted to. Mount that, I think it was inside a dog house, for some heat. My thought was to put some metal flashing above it just as a precaution of the wood getting hot. I made one but have not built a taller dog house yet. It needed to be taller so that the dog would not be bumping against it. I’ll find it and post a pic.

I wanted to share a heater i designed and built, its very effective and i believe pretty dang safe. When the coop is shut up for the night it keeps the temp about 20 degrees above ambient. . Easy to build, 5" ductwork, a few 6" duct pieces, 125 watt
heat lamp, (thermocube outlet, on at 35 off at 45)
Chickens can't break bulb, can't roost on it, dust can't get in.

Rich

heat
I really like this idea:
Could you show any pictures of how the heat lamp is secured inside this duct ?
What do you have on top of the top end of duct to keep anything from falling in ?

@carbonsteel the member you quoted hasn't been back to the forum since they made their one and only post in 2017...so you won't get a reply from @p3scuba.
