Coop Help Needed- Fencing Ideas-Please!!!

I am using the electric poultry net from Premier so far with no problems and I am in a heavy predator area. I would like to know if anybody else is using this and what they have found. I posted some pictures of our coop and you can see the netting in the pictures. I like it because I can move it around so one area doesn't get too poopy and picked over. But it is open so we will have to watch the hawks and owls!!

Watching the birds from the house is a big plus for us

I didn't want them so close I could smell or hear them (too loud) but I can watch them from the kitchen. Lots of fun.

Your fence should depend on your type of bird. heavy breeds are less likely to get over a fence. bantys will jump one in no time. The same for Leghorns. they like to fly.

I have a couple of barred rocks & a RIR roo. 1 clipped wing & a 5 ft fence. None have even tried to leave as far as I can tell. I went with a very heavy gage 2x4 wire fence with treated posts because we have too many critters running around (foxes & coyotes & opossum & the like). Plus I wanted something I don't have to mess with again for 40 years. We'll see.

I think that is what we are going to get. We use the electric tape from them for our horses and try to move it around so there we always be some grass for them. We thought the poultry net would be good so we could put them up near the patio for awhile to eat bugs, ticks, ect. for us and then move them around. I know hawks and bald eagles may still be an issue. Yesterday I just put a roll of chicken wire I found somebody before us left here and made a little fence out of it and let the chicks run around for a few hours while I watched them so they would be easier for me to catch again. It was not dog proof or anything but it worked while I was there watching them. We are going to be building their pens ASAP as right now they are in an old wire dog kennel and we know that's not the best for them.
