I received a coop and 10 birds from a family member who couldn't take the chickens to their new home. The coop needs some work and I still have to construct the run. The interior walls are roof sheathing. Since I live in Missouri, I know this stuff won't last with the humidity. Will painting keep this from flaking apart? I also need to find some vinyl for the floor. And how high should the nesting boxes be off the floor? These are lavender orpingtons about 6 months old.:woot

Not sure about the painting but it's best if the nest boxes are on or near the floor, definitely lower than the roost.
